This proposal consists of three new dwellings with integral studio workshops arranged around a shared courtyard and with views across the river Avon. The location benefits from being secluded yet within minutes of the city centre, and within an area favoured by other small business enterprises.

The layout provides upper floor living areas with roof terraces, arranged to balance outlook and privacy, with elevations of locally-sourced cedar cladding in keeping with this riverside setting. The lower floors are contained within rugged stone walls where the studio workshops have easy access from the courtyard.

The design includes a number of passive energy-saving systems and will be developed to provide rainwater re-cycling and some domestic solar hot water heating.

Stephen Brooks succeeded in securing Planning Permission following an Appeal, for the redevelopment of the Stoneworks site at Old Orchard, Walcot Street, Bath. This concludes a long-running exchange with the local Conservation and Planning Departments to agree on the appropriate redevelopment of the site next to the controversial Walcot Yard.
